Thought of the Day, July 2, 2020

Posted by Traci Smith on

Thought of the Day: Divine presence. This week a friend posted on Facebook, asking for examples of when we’ve felt God’s presence. I told this story, and I thought you might want to hear it too. When I was in college, there was a time I was facing a lot of anxiety and stress, so I went to my dorm’s prayer chapel. (Yep, I went to a college that had a prayer chapel!) and began to pray. I also began to cry, first softly, but then loudly. After a little while, someone came in, knelt beside me, put their hand on my shoulder and said “everything will be ok. It’s ok.” and then left. She didn’t ask me to talk about it. She didn’t say anything else, she just reassured me that I wasn’t alone, and then let me continue praying. I think God’s presence is sometimes like this. Not fixing. Not asking questions, just being still, and being present, assuring us that God is with us. When have you felt God’s presence with you?

I hope you will want to join us for communion, this Sunday! Bring your own bread and juice.
