Hi EPC Friends and Members, 

Here's my "3-2-1" for this week...

 3 EPC Happenings
1. The fundraising gala for Project C.U.R.E. is just three weeks away. Have you gotten your tickets yet? Tickets are available HERE. If you are unable to attend but still want to support the project, you can click HERE to go to EPC’S SimpleGive and scroll down to the Project CURE bucket and
make a donation!

2. The All Church Picnic is coming up on September 10th, along with the ordination and installation of Deacons and Elders, and Confirmation. It’ll be an exciting day! Wear red, if you remember! 

3. Can’t believe we’re starting to talk about Fall events, but Trunk or Treat is coming up, as is the Thanksgiving Potluck. Check out the upcoming events graphic below for Save the Dates!

4. I know it’s the 3-2-1, but there’s so much happening! I had to mention the BELL CHOIR coming up. Hooray! See Susan Smentek for more information. Hooray!

If we are to take our own origin story seriously, we need to see that God’s people only ever act in response to God’s act. They do not plan their own activity and then proceed. They encounter God and act in obedience to that encounter. God acts through God’s people, not in the way a puppet master manipulates a marionette but in the manner of a relationship that starts with God’s action.

It's not the same without you there, 


This Sunday we will kick off our new sermon series Stained Glass Windows. We will be spending time exploring the meaning behind the beautiful stained glass windows in our sanctuary. Join us as we learn more about each of the windows and symbols! This week's sermon title is Thy Will Be Done.


 

Next Sunday, September 10th, will be a wonderful celebration during worship. We will be celebrating Confirmation Sunday and the Ordination & Installation of new Deacons and Elders! Be sure you wear RED in celebration of this leadership Sunday!


 


 

Tickets are now available for the EPC Project C.U.R.E. Fundraising Gala on Friday, September 22, 2023! Please click HERE! The last day to buy tickets is September 17.

Need help figuring out how to purchase your gala tickets? We got you! Bring your credit card and we'll get you all set up after worship!

This will be an opportunity for fellowship within and outside of our EPC faith community as we aim to send $15,000 to fund the shipment of medical equipment to Malawi, Africa. If you want to learn more about Project C.U.R.E., click HERE. There's also a great video on our Facebook page HERE

We are excited to share that the ambassador of Malawi will be in attendance that evening. Get your tickets now! 


 

EPC invites you to participate in our new, beginner level, multi-generational handbell choir. Please join us as we learn some fun music to share during Worship. The bell group will rehearse on the following Sundays: September 24, October 1, October 15, October 22 from 11:45am-12:30pm. Performance during Worship on Sunday, October 29. If you are interested in joining us to make a joyful noise, please contact Susan Smentek, Director of Music.


 

All are invited to attend a lovely afternoon tea on Saturday, October 14th. This event will be held from 2-4pm in Calvin Hall. There are no dress requirements. All we ask is you sign up and RSVP by Saturday, October 7th. church members will be asked to host the table they select and tables may have a theme. Sign up HERE.  


 

Join EPC in supporting ‘Cue for a Cause, an event supporting Elmhurst Walk-In Assistance Network (EWAN). The event is Sunday, September 3 from 12-7PM. All are welcome to enjoy an afternoon of food and family fun. 


 

We’re looking for some volunteers and trunk decorators to help us get ready for Trunk or Treat! Volunteers will help cook the pizzas during worship and set up lunch before the trunk or treating begins. Decorators are needed to decorate their trunks and bring candy and goodies to hand out to kids in our circle drive! Sign up HERE


 



Parents of teens are invited to a supportive time of conversation, community, and reflection as we gather around the joyful and challenging stage of parenting teens! We meet on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month at Brewpoint Craft from 10:30 am - 11:30 am.
