Hi EPC Friends and Members,

Here's my "3-2-1" for this week...

3 EPC Happenings

1.  We've Got Soup for You! -- Join us THIS Sunday after worship for a fun fellowship event with SOUP! There will be soup, salad, bread, drinks, and dessert. All are welcome to come, and if you want to bring something, you can let us know HERE what you might want to bring. But you don't have to - there will be plenty for all. What a fun fall activity -- we hope you can join us.

2. Growing Old Gracefully -- This event is just around the corner!! Be sure you sign up for Sunday, October 23 after worship. It will be a great time of conversation around living life with grace. We are excited to hear from Amy Gaydos, Willy Miranda, and Nancy Betker. Please make sure you sign up in advance, and join us for a time of lunch and learning!

3. Trunk or Treat -- We are so excited about our Trunk or Treat event which will be held after worship on Sunday, October 30. Bring your friends and family, decorate your trunks, wear your costume, and join us for a fun and safe community Halloween event. All are welcome!

2 Interesting Links

1. We're making a YouTube Playlist for prospective members and community members to learn about EPC! Here's the first video: on COMMUNION.

2. I encourage you to watch THIS video and note a few EPC connections. The Spirit is at work!

  1. Johannes Favi, featured in the video, will be dropping by EPC on Sunday to talk about the needs of this community
  2. Our congregation is currently storing clothing that is being sorted for these exact migrants, through the Interfaith Community for Detained Immigrants (Johannes is the director)
  3. Grace and Peace Church, mentioned several times in the video, is a church we've partnered with on several occasions. They gave us food for a distribution in Bensenville and we gave them dozens of PADS from DuPage PADS for them to use for a shelter for women and children.
1 Thought

A simple exercise: try to write a poem about something you're thinking about our feeling these days. Don't worry about whether or not it'll be "good."

And heed these words from Gwendolyn Brooks:

"In writing your poem, tell the truth as you know it. Tell your truth. Don’t try to sugar it up. Don’t force your poem to be nice or proper or normal or happy if it does not want to be. Remember that poetry is life distilled and that life is not always nice or proper or normal or happy or smooth or even-edged."

There you have it! Our 3-2-1 for the week. See you Sunday!

It's not the same without you there,

BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS! Tomorrow at 4PM in the Circle Drive. Plan to be here as we bless all of our pets and animal friends. We will have a special moment of remembrance for pets who have died as well. If you'd like your pet to be included in the remembrance prayer, please reach out to Pastor Traci. All of our pet friends must be on leashes or in cages, please. The blessing will be at the circle drive. All are welcome!

In conjunction with our Blessing of the Animals service,
Community Kids will be collecting supplies for the
West Suburban Humane Society.
