Hi EPC Friends and Members!
Here's my "3-2-1" for this week...

3 EPC Happenings
  1. Hanging of the Greens Service - join us for a very special worship service on 11/28 at 10:30 am. The service will include readings on some of the symbols of Advent including the poinsettia, greens, and bells. If you are available to read for this service, please contact Kaleigh.
  2. Pop up Pantry — There are two ways to help. Please bring empty egg cartons and donations to church. You can also sign up to help on December 1.To help, please contact Kaleigh
  3. Installation/Ordination of Officers - We are excited to be formally installing and ordaining our new deacons and elders this Sunday during worship. I am so grateful to them for their willingness to serve! It will be a wonderful celebration. I hope you'll join us.

2 Interesting Links

  1. Today I’ve been thinking about Teresa de Avila’s beautiful prayer: “Nada te turbe.” You can read it in Spanish and English as well as see a musical interpretation of it here.
  2. I finally finished reading The Anthropocene Reviewed by John Green. It’s a delightful collection of essays and each reads like a sermon. You can find it here.

1 Thought

“For everything there is a season”
This week in worship we will be talking about the seasons of life. Spend a few minutes thinking about the season of life you’re in right now. If you’d like to read Ecclesiastes 3:1-10, it will help you prepare for the service.

There you have it! Our 3-2-1 for the week. See you on Sunday.

It's not the same without you there,

Pastor Traci

This Sunday in worship, we will be installing and ordaining our new deacons and elders. We are so grateful for their willingness to serve God and Elmhurst Presbyterian Church. Please join us as we celebrate this special day!

The EPC Mission Committee is hosting another pop-up pantry to benefit families in need in Elmhurst School District. Please consider making donations as early as possible so they can be sorted and inventoried.

Help give the children at Erie Neighborhood House a great Christmas! The mission committee will be setting up the giving tree to benefit the children at Erie Neighborhood House. Once you grab a tag from the tree, please use Amazon for your shopping and ship the present to: 4225 W. 25th St, Chicago, IL 60623 and choose “weekday delivery only.”

On Sunday, November 28 at 10:30 AM, we will be having a special Hanging of the Greens worship service. We are looking for readers to share the readings on some of the symbols of Advent including the poinsettia, greenery, and bells.

On Friday December 10th at 7.30pm, Lakeside Singers, a choral music group, will perform a holiday concert in the sanctuary of EPC. Lakeside Singers are a group of singers and musicians that include our very own Susan Smentek. The concert will celebrate music from Renaissance to Rock with an extraordinary mix of vocal styles. Tickets for adults are $35 each but are discounted for our congregation at $20 each. Tickets for Children are $10. For more information and to purchase tickets, go to https://www.lakesidesingers.com

EPC is raising funds to benefit an Afghan family of 11 who must leave Afghanistan due to exceptional risk. Your donation will go toward visa application, legal, and transportation fees. Please consider making a contribution by giving online, text to give, or placing a donation in the offering plate noting “Afghan Family Support.”

Longtime EPC member Dick White died on October 26th. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, December 11 at 2:00 PM at EPC. Please light a candle for his family and include them in your prayers.

This past Sunday in worship we wrapped up our 2022 Stewardship Campaign, A Future With Hope. We heard a wonderful giving testimony from Faith Lee, which you can read below. You can also read Jim Davidovich's from the week prior. A huge thank you to those who brought their pledge cards and time & talent cards to worship with them. If you haven't had a chance to fill one out, it's not too late! Bring it to worship, or send it to the church.

Our Community Kids program together with Girl Scout Troop 55449 assembled some "Birthday Boxes" (birthday party in a bag: cake mix, frosting, small presents, balloons, etc) and some bags for people who live outside. They were able to assemble 50 Birthday Bags and 30 bags for the Houseless. We are so grateful for Troop 55449 and our local food pantries!
