Celebrate Spring with the Women of EPC! The women of the church are invited for a social gathering on Wednesday, May 22nd at 7 PM, hosted by Karen Fitzgerald and Cheryl Kopecky. This will be a fun opportunity for the women to get to know each other better and celebrate Spring!

We will be gathering at the Kopecky’s, 205 N. Larch Ave. in Elmhurst. We hope you can join us and if you can, please email your RSVP by May 21st to Karen Fitzgerald.  There is no need to respond if you cannot come.

Please be aware that the church will begin exterior concrete and paving work the week of May 20th. Parking may be minimally impacted while they repair, repave, seal, and restripe the parking lot and circle drive area.

Project should be complete by early June depending on the weather. Thank you for your patience and cooperation!

Great news! Our Afghan family has received asylum status and are officially legal residents of the United States! The family is living in Virginia, some distance outside of Washington D.C.

They are, of course, over-joyed about living here and their asylum status. The parents are taking classes to learn English. The older children (young men) are working hard. The son who was a physician in Afghanistan is studying for his test to take the steps necessary to become a physician in the United States. The younger siblings love school and are all excelling in their studies.

In a recent conversation with members of the family, they repeatedly thanked us for the prayers, financial support, and hope we provided them and they wanted us to share their deep feelings with all of you. We reminded them the support came from multiple churches, friends, and community members.

Kabul fell to the Taliban in August, 2021; our fund raising activities began in September, 2021 and in April, 2024, the family is finally settled in the United States.

It has been so devastating to see the horrors occurring in Gaza since October of 2023. Because EPC has been engaged in so many other missions in our community and abroad, we have not yet done a special collection for this ongoing situation.  We want to remind everyone that supporting Presbyterian Disaster Assistance in times like these is always a good idea.

PDA has approved solidarity grants and will continue supporting our partners providing humanitarian assistance. Our response efforts will encompass a wide array of vital humanitarian interventions, including but not limited to medical supplies, shelter, WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene), food and non-food items and delivering crucial psychosocial support to individuals.
