Posted on

Hi EPC Friends and Members,

Here's my "3-2-1" for this week...

3 EPC Happenings

  1. This Sunday we'll celebrate Epiphany! You'll receive a special Epiphany bag to help you celebrate this important day. See you there!
  2. Next Sunday, January 16, is our annual meeting. Please plan to be present in person or via zoom. If you will be present via zoom, please email Cristi in the main office for instructions on joining us remotely!
  3. Sunday, January 30th is our all-church leadership breakfast! All of the church teams and committees will be meeting. The meeting starts at 9:30 a.m. See you there! If you're not on a ministry team (committee) but are curious about how you might serve the church in this way, please plan to come to the meeting at 9:30 to learn and discern where you might use your gifts to serve EPC in 2022! All are welcome.

2 Interesting Links

  1.  This link is a couple of years old, but it's a really good one. Eight secrets to a fulfilled life (I know that title sounds like it's overpromising, but it's a great article.) Catch it HERE
  2. I feel like the word "mindfulness" is tossed around a lot, but we don't often drill deep into what it is and means. HERE is a great, simple overview.

1 Thought

Yesterday was Epiphany! I found this ancient quote meaningful. Some of the language might catch you off-guard, as it did to me, but it's worth pondering, I think:

What are you doing, O Magi? Do you adore a little Babe, in a wretched hovel, wrapped in miserable rags? Can this Child be truly God? … Are you become foolish, O Wise Men … Yes, these Wise Men have become fools that they may be wise.
— Saint Bernard of Clairvaux

There you have it! Our 3-2-1 for the week. See you Sunday!
It's not the same without you there,

Pastor Traci

Epiphany Sunday worship is this Sunday, January 9th. We will be celebrating the wise ones arriving at the stable and thinking about our words for 2022. You'll have an opportunity to get your own star word, so please be sure you join us either in person or online!

This Sunday after worship, we will be de-greening the church. We need as many hands as possible to help it happen quickly. We also are looking for a few strong, able-bodied people to help take apart and transport the outdoor stable to be put in storage. Thank you!

Don't forget to bring in your donations on Sunday to help Fill the Stable! We are looking for donations of soup, diapers, hats and gloves, and gift cards. Place all donations outside the church in the circle drive!

Please join us for an Annual Meeting of the Congregation on Sunday, January 16, 2022 after worship. We will receive annual reports for the congregation and act on the Pastor's Terms of Call. We need a many people to attend the meeting as possible so we'll be doing a hybrid model --  If you would like to attend the meeting via Zoom, please email the church office and we'll make sure to give you instructions for how to attend.

Our first leadership breakfast for 2022 will be Sunday, January 30th at 9:30 AM. All committees and teams are meeting. If you'd like to serve a committee and you're not sure which one to serve, please come to the breakfast! We'll have someone standing by to tell you what the committees are and where you might best fit.

Quarantined at home? Being cautious due to COVID? Home on Sunday morning because of other reasons? You're in luck! EPC has a livestream of the worship service every Sunday that you can access here

An update to our Afghan Family Support: The family of 11 was able to get Afghan passports, visas to safety in Pakistan, and a flight to Islamabad, Pakistan. Thanks to your contributions, we are able to help them with housing expenses in Pakistan while they wait for paperwork to be processed. Please consider making a contribution by giving online, text to give, or placing a donation in the offering plate noting “Afghan Family Support.”

Sunday School is hybrid this week! Join us either in-person or on Zoom. If you are tuning in online, be sure to watch the Live Stream to know when we leave the sanctuary to come meet us.

Beginning this Sunday, we are going to be studying the parables of Jesus. This week, we will hear the story of the Samaritan and the wounded man and we'll be making a web of connections together. People following along at home should bring a piece of paper (preferably bigger than normal, but a regular size one can work in a pinch) and something to draw on it with.
