January 14, 2022: E-News Updates

Hi EPC Friends and Members,

Here's my "3-2-1" for this week...

3 EPC Happenings

  1. I'm very excited to be beginning a sermon series on the 3 smaller books of John in the Bible. There is the gospel of John and then these three smaller books (very near the end of the Bible). There's no consensus about whether all of these books were written by the same person. The beauty in these small books of the Bible is that they contain deep wisdom and each chapter provides a lot of thought for Christians to consider. I hope you'll consider reading them in preparation for the messages. This week is 1 John 1. It speaks of light.
  2. Our annual meeting has been postponed until January 30th. It will happen as a part of our regular worship service. There will be an online attendance option for all.
  3. I've been thinking of starting a zoom Bible study just called "Pastor Traci's Drop in Bible Study" -- (please, no need to give me applause for the clever name.)  I think the goals would be clear, just a simple Bible study where we can learn more about the Bible. We will use the simple inductive method where you talk about what the text says  then what it means and then how it applies to your life. I thought we could pick a book from the Bible (let's start with the Gospel of Mark) and work our way through. Does it sound interesting? Would you want to attend a Bible study like that? It'll be a drop in study so you could come on the weeks you were free but not the ones you weren't. Each week would stand alone and also go together. The three times I'm thinking about are: Morning 9:00-10:00 at Lunchtime 12:00 - 1:00 or late afternoon 5:00 - 6:00.  If you're interested in a study like this, email me and tell me whether you'd come most of the time, some of the time, or once in a while and which time of day (and day of the week if you have a preference) you'd like. We'll see how interested people are and go from there! Yay for studying the Bible in 2022! :)

2 Interesting Links

  1. I loved THIS list of 100 tips for a better life. There are plenty of gems there.
  2. I'm obviously only a few days in, but I'm loving the Daily Stoic. The meditations are super short and stick with me all day.

1 Thought

A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly... if you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.

There you have it! Our 3-2-1 for the week. See you Sunday!

It's not the same without you there,

Pastor Traci

Due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases, we are encouraging all folks who can to worship with EPC via livestream this Sunday at your discretion. We will make every effort to ensure you feel included with us. You can access the live stream here

Join us this Sunday as we kick-off our new Sermon Series on "The Books of John." We will be exploring the 3 shorter books of John that you find in the back of the Bible. These books contain deep wisdom, and they provide a lot of great thoughts for Christians to consider. They are pretty short, so be sure you read along with us! We'll be starting with 1 John this week.

Our annual meeting has been postponed until January 30th. It will happen as a part of our regular worship service. There will be an online attendance option for all.  There will be more information in the coming weeks. Stay Tuned!

Our first leadership breakfast for 2022 will be Sunday, January 30th at 9:30 AM. All committees and teams are meeting. If you'd like to serve a committee and you're not sure which one to serve, please come to the breakfast! We'll have someone standing by to tell you what the committees are and where you might best fit.

An update to our Afghan Family Support: The family of 11 was able to get Afghan passports, visas to safety in Pakistan, and a flight to Islamabad, Pakistan. Thanks to your contributions, we are able to help them with housing expenses in Pakistan while they wait for paperwork to be processed. Please consider making a contribution by giving online, text to give, or placing a donation in the offering plate noting “Afghan Family Support.”
