Hi EPC Friends and Members,

Here's my "3-2-1" for this week...

3 EPC Happenings

  1.  I'm so excited about this Sunday's Community Kids event. Thanks to everyone who contributed to this! If you weren't able to contribute this time, no problem! There will be plenty of opportunities.
  2. Ash Wednesday Service is this Wednesday at 7:00 PM. Come for the imposition of ashes, prayer, and a message to begin the holy season of Lent.
  3. We're studying the book of Mark in the midweek Bible Study. Join us this Wednesday at Noon as we begin chapter 2!

2 Interesting Links

  1. I am praying for peace today, as I know we all are. I thought THIS PRAYER from the Presbyterian Outlook was lovely.
  2. Someone I'm learning about: Maria Mitchell. I learned about her from a friend who is writing a children's book about here. Amazing.

1 Thought

I've been praying the Prayer of St. Francis this week:

Lord, make me a channel of thy peace,
that where there is hatred, I may bring love;
that where there is wrong,
 I may bring the spirit of forgiveness;
that where there is discord, I may bring harmony;
that where there is error, I may bring truth;
that where there is doubt, I may bring faith;
that where there is despair, I may bring hope;
that where there are shadows, I may bring light;
that where there is sadness, I may bring joy.
Lord, grant that I may seek rather to
comfort than to be comforted;
to understand, than to be understood;
to love, than to be loved.
For it is by self-forgetting that one finds.
It is by forgiving that one is forgiven.
It is by dying that one awakens to Eternal Life.

There you have it! Our 3-2-1 for the week. See you Sunday!

It's not the same without you there,

Pastor Traci

Join us for a short and reflective Ash Wednesday Service on Wednesday, March 2nd at 7:00PM. Come for the imposition of ashes, prayer, and a message to begin the holy season of Lent. The service will also be live-streamed. If you are tuning in from home, you will have the opportunity to get ashes to use at home. Please contact the church office if you need ashes.

The season of Lent officially begins this week on Ash Wednesday. Next Sunday in worship is the first Sunday of Lent and we will be beginning our Lenten Sermon Series, Come Follow Me: A Disciples' Journey Through Lent. This series looks at defining moments in Jesus' ministry and helps us deepen our commitment to Christ as we discover what it means to follow Jesus and serve in the work of Jesus.

Our new directory is LIVE and we need your help to create your online profile. All you need is the email address you have on file with the church (probably the one you are getting this email sent to!). If you aren't sure, contact Cristi. Our Pastoral Assistant, Kaleigh made this helpful video for walking you through the steps of how to create your own profile. You will need to go HERE to create your login and update your information. If you have questions, contact Cristi or Kaleigh.

Join Pastor Traci Wednesdays from 12-1 PM for a drop-in bible study on Zoom. We will be exploring the Gospel of Mark, asking questions like “What does the text say?,” “What does the text mean?” and “How does it call us to live?” This week we'll be focusing in on Mark 2. Use the zoom link below to join in. All are welcome!

The Nominating Committee is hard at work finding our new slate of Elders and Deacons. Do you know someone who God might be calling? Please fill out this NOMINATING FORM. All responses will be kept confidential and passed on to the nominating committee.

Don't forget! You can worship with EPC via livestream! We are grateful for our behind-the-scenes team who makes it happen every week. The link is below!

An update to our Afghan Family Support: The family of 11 was able to get Afghan passports, visas to safety in Pakistan, and a flight to Islamabad, Pakistan. Thanks to your contributions, we are able to help them with housing expenses in Pakistan while they wait for paperwork to be processed. Please consider making a contribution by giving online, text to give, or placing a donation in the offering plate noting “Afghan Family Support.”

There is NO Sunday School this week. Kids will be in church with their families this week and are invited to join the Community Kids Event following the Sunday worship service. There's a coloring sheet below for everyone!

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who donated items for our Community Kids Event this Sunday!

In partnership with research scientist Dr. Jodie Dewey, we'll be collecting items for people who are working through withdrawals and towards their recovery for opioid addiction. Dr. Dewey is giving a short message this Sunday during worship to the adults in the congregation about this type of addiction and illness while the kids are downstairs for Sunday School.

On 2/27, the kids will gather the collected items, assemble them into bags, have some pizza, and hear Dr. Dewey's age-appropriate talk for kids about why we're doing what we're doing! That event will be right after church from 11:45-12:45 in Calvin Hall.
