Hi EPC Friends and Members,

Here's my "3-2-1" for this week...

3 EPC Happenings

1. Ash Wednesday is this Wednesday, February 22! Join us at 7:00PM for a service of prayer, song, and the imposition of ashes. Hope to see you there as we mark the beginning of the sacred season of Lent.

2. I will be preaching at our sister church, New Deliverance Church, in Chicago on February 26 at 10:30! All members of EPC are welcome to come. Here at EPC Edward Mbewe will be our guest preacher. It will be a wonderful Sunday at both churches so please plan to come.

3. Our custodian, Jesús Garcia is retiring! His last day is March 3 and this Sunday after worship we will celebrate him before he retires to Mexico. We are so thankful to him for his years of service and will miss him!

1. I am very excited to read this book on repentance and repair from my friend, Rabbi Danya Ruttenberg. Check out THIS fantastic review.

2. Though it’s hard to read at times, THIS is a very compelling piece from NYT writer David Brooks

1 Thought

To repent means to “turn around.” Good Ash Wednesday advice. Turn around from our illusion of self–sufficiency and face God, which means facing the truth of who we are. This is a day to turn around and confess that we get it: one day we will once again be ashes.-- Paul E. Hoffman

There you have it! Our 3-2-1 for the week. See you Sunday!

It's not the same without you there,

Join us this Sunday in worship as we celebrate Transfiguration Sunday. This is the last Sunday before the season of Lent begins on Wednesday. Our lenten sermon series, The Journey, will begin next week.

The season of Lent is often described as a journey. A journey with Jesus towards Easter, a journey through as the days get longer, and a journey growing closer to God through our own spiritual disciplines. You are invited to join us on the journey this Lenten season with our sermon series The Journey.
