December 29, 2023: E-News Updates

Posted on

Hi EPC Friends and Members,

Here's my "3-2-1" for this week...

3 EPC Happenings
1. Join us for a fun and festive "Countdown to Noon" THIS Sunday, December 31 (New Year's Eve!) following worship. There will be balloons and sparkling grape juice and we will ring in the new year together as a church. We will also have a special worship service at 10:30 AM around Hopes and Fears. Please join us!

2. January is a good time for coffee, cupcakes, and conversation. Stop by at one of the times I have listed below!

3. Have you joined EPC (or started worshipping with us) in the last 3 (or so) years? If so, come to a new member/visitor lunch on January 21 at 11:30AM. See the details below!

2 Interesting Links
 1. The new year is a good time to do some reflecting on the year that has passed and think about the year that is to come. I really like the UNRAVEL YOUR YEAR journal from Susannah Conway. It’s free, but you have to give an email address to download it.

2. How do I know what I think until I read what I wrote? Writing is so important for clear thinking. See one article about this HERE. Though that article is about academic writing, I think it applies for more self reflective writing and thinking, as well. Let it be inspiration for you to do some more writing in 2024.

 1 Thought

"People think focus means saying yes to the thing you've got to focus on. But that's not what it means at all. It means saying no to the hundred other good ideas that there are. You have to pick carefully. I'm actually as proud of the things we haven't done as the things we have done. Innovation is saying no to 1,000 things."

— Steve Jobs

There you have it! Our 3-2-1 for the week. See you Sunday!

It's not the same without you there,

A note from Erie House:
Thank you so much for supporting Erie House's Holidays with Heart drive. I am sending a few pictures from the celebrations. The celebrations included several visits from Santa, a sleigh ride, and lots of treats. With your support we provided gifts to all the 535 kids in our programs. Thank you for your partnership.

Join us for a special New Year's Eve Worship Service this Sunday called Hopes and Fears. We'll be focusing on the story of Simeon and Anna and also spending time releasing our burdens and offering our own hopes for the New Year. Please join us for this meaningful service!

Since New Year's Eve is a Sunday, you are invited to join us after worship on December 31 for a "Countdown to Noon!" as we welcome in 2024 together as a church family. We will have a small celebration to welcome in the New Year. All are welcome!

Come for coffee, cupcakes, conversation, or all three at one of these times in January! Pastor Traci will provide the coffee and the cupcakes. You bring yourself and some conversation. All are invited and welcome! We'll meet in the Nelson-White room! No need to sign up, just come! Email or text Pastor Traci with questions.

January 17 at 10:00AM
January 24 at 7:00PM
January 30 at 4:00PM and 7:00PM

Have you started worshipping with EPC or Joined EPC since 2020? Come to a new member/visitor lunch on January 21 at 11:30. Please sign up by emailing Cristi in the church office.

This year during the Advent and Christmas season, EPC will be collecting Diapers for New Deliverance. Our goal is to fill the stable that will be set up in the Nelson White room as well. Please bring in any size diapers and fill the stable until the end of the year.

The church office will be closed December 23rd-27th and will reopen as scheduled on Thursday, the 28th. We will also be closed January 1st-2nd for New Year's.

Parents of teens are invited to a supportive time of conversation, community, and reflection as we gather around the joyful and challenging stage of parenting teens! We meet on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month at Brewpoint Craft from 10:30 am - 11:30 am.
