December 23rd, 2021: E-News Updates

Posted on

Hi EPC Friends and Members,

Here's my "3-2-1" for this week...

3 EPC Happenings

  1. I'm very excited about our Christmas Eve Service this year, which includes first person narratives written by our Director of Christian Education and Youth Ministries, Emily Culella. They are creative, inspiring, and familiar, too! Join us at 6pm for music, candlelight, and story. Masks are required, unless you are speaking from the pulpit, and please be sure to stay home if you have any symptoms at all!
  2. For those who want to be extra cautious and COVID safe, please enjoy the service via live-stream HERE.
  3. I'm VERY excited about our December 26th service. It's going to be a service of special musical requests and carols as well as sharing about your favorite Christmas ornaments (open-mic style). If you have an ornament to share, please bring it and be prepared to talk for 1-2 minutes about why it's sacred to you.

2 Interesting Links

  1. I was super touched by THIS article: A man strung Christmas lights from his home to his neighbor’s to support her. The whole community followed!
  2. Pretty sure you'll be touched and inspired by THIS photo of two penguins comforting each other in Australia. Love.

“We do not think ourselves into a new way of living. We live ourselves into new ways of thinking.”
― Richard Rohr, Preparing for Christmas: Daily Meditations for Advent

There you have it! Our 3-2-1 for the week. See you tomorrow for Christmas Eve!

It's not the same without you there,

Pastor Traci

Join us for our Christmas Eve worship service TOMORROW December 24th at 6:00PM. This year, we will experience the Christmas Story through first-person narratives of those who were present at that first Christmas, familiar carols, and candlelight. Please plan on joining us -- the service will also be live streamed here

Join us on Sunday, December 26 during worship for a special Caroling Service! Come and celebrate Christmas with a musical vocal quartet who will sing all of your favorites and take your requests. Do you have a favorite Christmas ornament? Please bring it with you as we will have an open mic Christmas ornament sharing time.

To honor the Holy Family during Advent, help EPC fill the stable. During the month of December, we are collecting donations of soup, diapers, hats, gloves, and gift cards. Please place your items in our stable located outside the church in the circle drive. Thank you for supporting our local community!

Please note the EPC Office will be closed on the following dates:
Monday, December 27
Tuesday, December 28
Friday, December 31 and
Monday, January 3

Help us reach our financial goals by giving your tax-deductible year end gift to EPC by December 31, 2021. Remember you can place your gift in the offering plate or by giving online. All gifts are received with gratitude and joy!

An update to our Afghan Family Support: The family of 11 was able to get Afghan passports, visas to safety in Pakistan, and a flight to Islamabad, Pakistan. Thanks to your contributions, we are able to help them with housing expenses in Pakistan while they wait for paperwork to be processed. Please consider making a contribution by giving online, text to give, or placing a donation in the offering plate noting “Afghan Family Support.”

For the next two Sundays, 12/26 and 1/2, there will be no Sunday School. Emily is on vacation, so the kids are welcome to worship with their parents. We look forward to the new year!
