Posted on

Hi EPC Friends and Members,

Here's my "3-2-1" for this week...

3 EPC Happenings
 1. There were a few misprints in our recent church newsletter. Please be sure you note the changes on your personal calendars! The corrections are as follows: there will be NO Christmas Day worship service, the New Year's Eve Service will be on Sunday, December 31st at 10:30am and finally the EPC Annual Congregational Meeting is scheduled for Sunday, January 28th.

2. Join us on Saturday, December 16th from 5-7:30 PM for a Festive Family Fun Night. We will be watching the Muppet Christmas Carol, eating pizza, and having a special scavenger hunt. It will be a fun celebration.

3. Christmas Eve is around the corner! We will be having TWO services at 10:30 AM and 5:00 PM. It will be a special Christmas Pageant at both services, don't miss it.

2 Interesting Links
 1. I’ll be preaching about Holy Darkness on Sunday. THIS reading will be good preparation for your heart and mind.

2. THIS Advent Devotional from the PCUSA is so beautifully done. We will have a few copies available for those who would like them on the welcome table this Sunday, or read it on your screen each morning.

 1 Thought
“Look up, you whose gaze is fixed on this earth, who are spellbound by the little events and changes on the face of the earth. Look up to these words, you who have turned away from heaven disappointed. Look up, you whose eyes are heavy with tears and who are heavy and who are crying over the fact that the earth has gracelessly torn us away. Look up, you who, burdened with guilt, cannot lift your eyes. Look up, your redemption is drawing near. something different from what you see daily will happen. Just be aware, be watchful, wait just another short moment. Wait and something quite new will break over you: God will come.”

Dietrich Bonhoeffer, God Is In the Manger

There you have it! Our 3-2-1 for the week. See you Sunday!

It's not the same without you there,

Check out these photos from Baby Declan's baptism this past Sunday!

There were a few misprints in our recent church newsletter. Please note the following changes:

There will be NO Christmas Day worship service.

The New Year's Eve Service will be on Sunday, December 31st at 10:30am.

The EPC Annual Congregational Meeting is scheduled for Sunday, January 28th.

This Sunday is the Second Sunday of Advent, The Sunday of Peace. Pastor Traci will be preaching on Making Way for Peace and we will celebrate the Lord's Supper. Please join us as we continue to prepare for the coming of the Christ Child!

UPDATE: Thank you to everyone who picked up gifts to donate to the Erie House for Christmas. The rest of the tags left on the tree were covered by the church, but if you would like to contribute financially it would be appreciated. Thank you!

This year during the Advent and Christmas season, EPC will be collecting Diapers for New Deliverance. Our goal is to fill the stable that will be set up in the Nelson White room as well. Please bring in any size diapers and fill the stable until the end of the year.

It is that time of year already when we order red and white poinsettias to grace our sanctuary. The cost will be $23.50 this year. We will be passing out order envelopes the next several Sundays. Kindly check the boxes for your color preference, total, how you would like your contribution listed and if you prefer to pick up your plant this year or donate it for deacon delivery. You can place your completed forms in the basket on the lectern. The deadline is Sunday, December 10th. Questions? Contact Paula Reckley

Festive Family Fun Night – Saturday 12/16 5-7:30 PM – Join us for a night of festive fun for ALL ages!! We'll be showing the Muppet Christmas Carol movie, serving a pizza dinner, and cap the night off with a scavenger hunt leading to a special treat! We'll also have some fun holiday craft centers set up.

We’ll be hosting our annual EPC Christmas Pageant live on Sunday, December 24th at 5 pm during our Christmas Eve evening service! Want to help out? Reach out by phone or email to our church office.

Since New Year's Eve is a Sunday, you are invited to join us after worship on December 31 for a "Countdown to Noon!" as we welcome in 2024 together as a church family. We will have a small celebration to welcome in the New Year. All are welcome!

Parents of teens are invited to a supportive time of conversation, community, and reflection as we gather around the joyful and challenging stage of parenting teens! We meet on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month at Brewpoint Craft from 10:30 am - 11:30 am.
