Who We Are

We’re a welcoming congregation of the Presbyterian Church USA. You’ll find that we appreciate and value diversity of all kinds.

Elmhurst Presbyterian Church (EPC) is a vibrant, inclusive congregation located in Elmhurst, Illinois, a western suburb of Chicago. EPC began in 1954, with the congregation f irst worshiping at Irion Hall at Elmhurst College. The first worship service at our current site took place in 1956, and by 1960 the education building, fellowship hall, and larger kitchen had been added. Our building sits on a beautiful, welcoming property with worship, education, and gathering spaces that increasingly serve as a hub for community outreach, partnership, and hospitality. We share our facility with the Antioch Telugu Baptist Church, a Montessori preschool (beginning in August), many 12-step groups, the Elmhurst Pride Collective, and the Illinois Community for Displaced Immigrants (ICDI). This reflects our growing vision of EPC as not only a church home for our members, but a center for connection, service, and care in the wider community.

Our congregation is intergenerational and diverse. Many members come from varied denominational backgrounds, including Catholic, Anglican, Baptist, and Lutheran traditions. EPC is known for its commitment to inclusion, its passion for justice, and its joyful, creative worship. Rooted in the Reformed tradition, we proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ, teach with grace, serve with justice, and embody inclusive love for all creation. As a Matthew 25 congregation, we are dedicated to dismantling systemic racism, eradicating poverty, and building congregational vitality.

EPC MISSION STATEMENT

Touched by Grace, We Live Differently

We are a church called by Jesus Christ to proclaim good news, teach with grace, serve with justice, and embody inclusive love for all creation.

EPC VISION STATEMENT

At EPC, we believe that all people are made in the image of God (imago Dei) and are called into full participation in the life of the church—including baptism, communion, and leadership.

We are a Matthew 25 congregation committed to standing with the most vulnerable, offering not only prayers and care but also bold, tangible action.

We practice faithful stewardship of the Earth, knowing that creation is a gift from God to protect and preserve.

We don’t define community by geography or likeness – we step out in faith, take risks, and welcome all into a witness of inclusive love, justice, and grace.
