Stewardship Pledges

If you were to summarize the work of Elmhurst Presbyterian Church in just one word, what would it be? A few come to my mind. Community. Mission. Service. Faith.

Those are wonderful words that describe us, but if pressed to pick one, it would be resurrection.  Our whole faith and community are based on the simple (and yet incredibly profound) truth of resurrection.  Resurrection is a belief that new life grows out of death, and that there is a light that shines in the darkness. We are a people of hope, and of resurrection.

When we collect pledge cards every year, we are gathering promises from our congregation to participate in the work of resurrection. Here are some of the ways we do that:

  • Through pastoral care and lay leaders, we pray beside hospital beds and at gravesites, boldly reminding our members that there is hope in dark times.
  • Through our coming together, hearing the Word of God proclaimed, singing a new song unto the Lord.
  • Through fellowship, sharing our joys and struggles with one another, a community of believers united through Christ.

We invite you to make your pledges this year with the theme of resurrection stirring in your heart. What will God do in our community this year? We have faith that we will be surprised and delighted as God continues to work on the corner of Spring and St. Charles Roads.
