Children & Youth

Nursery Services

The EPC nursery is available Sunday mornings from 10 a.m. to noon. The nursery is staffed by Clare Collins and Erin Fitzgerald, who are on the Faith Formation Committee and are both elementary school teachers. Your little ones will be well taken care of during worship!

Children's Church

The first Sunday of every month (when we regularly partake in the Lord’s Supper), children participate in the entire worship service. Kids gather together in the front pew for their own lesson, guided group craft, or other activity. Other Sundays, children begin worship with all generations and receive a children’s message that is integrated into the service, then leave during the sermon.

When children do leave the worship service with their youth leaders, they engage with each other in age-appropriate lessons from the Bible. They pray together, learn a story from scripture, do a craft or game together, laugh together, and then return to worship. Some Sundays (seasonal), children learn lessons in our church’s vegetable garden about the Holy Spirit, nature, growing food, and harvesting food to give to those in need. For details about curriculum, accommodations, and lessons, please contact our church office.

Youth Leadership Training & Confirmation

Every Sunday from 10:30-11:30, the youth of Elmhurst Presbyterian Church (7th-12th grade) meet to follow along with the sermon series, or learn the Bible from start to finish.

At EPC, we believe in a three-pronged concept of faith:

  • Learning stories of the bible and,
  • Learning the history and policies of the church, and
  • Practicing our faith in a myriad of ways (prayer, contemplation, missions, field trips).

On Communion Sundays: At Elmhurst Presbyterian, we believe that the body of Christ involves all of us. When we celebrate communion, we intentionally create an all-generations environment. Every first Sunday of the month, we celebrate the Lord’s supper together, engaging in the community of Christ.

If you are a person in 7th-12th grade, contact our church office to start your own leadership training or confirmation process!

Vacation Bible School

Every year, Elmhurst Presbyterian Church hosts a daily Vacation Bible School program during the summer that will entertain and educate children of all ages. Our youth team and volunteers work hard to ensure all who sign up, a fun-filled week jam-packed with thrilling and engaging content.

This summer, VBS is from Monday, August 5th through Thursday, August 8th! This year’s theme is “Operation Restoration: Mending God’s World.”

We Provide Accommodations!

At EPC, we are dedicated to exploring faith with people of all needs and abilities. For each pew, there is available a “worship basket” for young people filled with age-appropriate tools to help them worship with us—even if they can’t read, talk, or sing yet!

Because we also understand that children don’t all worship in the same way, we also have bins for children who have sensory needs or for those who are neurodiverse. For one of these specialized pew bins, just ask an elder at worship or someone in our church office.

How can we best accompany your child on their faith journey? Let us know if we can help with any learning accommodations or needs.

If you’d like to help add to our “worship baskets,” please consider purchasing one of the engaging, faith-based items on our Amazon Wish List!

Meet Our Youth Leader

Emerson Azocoitia (he/they)

My name is Emerson Azcoitia (he/they) and I am so excited to be serving as EPC Youth Leader. I am currently a student with the school of education at Elmhurst University. On campus some of my involvement includes being the president of our dance company and president/founder of a progressive christian organization. I grew up in the baptist church and have since left the church of my parents to find something that is a better fit for me! I am so excited to work with EPC and I look forward to meeting everyone!
