Thought of the Day: Hymn Week. This week I decided to share some of the lines from my favorite hymns. What are your favorite hymns? I’d love to know. In this age of COVID, we’ll have to be creative about how we sing together, but music is as important now as ever.
Today, from the hymn: “When Peace Like A River” — When peace like a river attendeth my way. When sorrows like sea billows roll… whatever my lot, Thou hast taught me to say “It is well. It is well with my soul.” This lyric, like yesterday’s, has a story. The author saw his family fall overboard a ship, and so the line “When sorrows like sea billows roll” has profound meaning. Whatever we are facing, we can say “It is well with my soul.”
