Thought for the Day, September 16, 2020

Posted by Traci Smith on

Thought of the Day: Hymn Week. This week I decided to share some of the lines from my favorite hymns. What are your favorite hymns? I’d love to know. In this age of COVID, we’ll have to be creative about how we sing together, but music is as important now as ever.
Today, from the hymn “Come Thou Fount” — Prone to wander, Lord I feel it. Prone to leave the God I love. I love that line because of the story behind it… I read once that the writer of the hymn had penned those lyrics and then many years later, when he felt distant from God, heard them sung back to him. It was his own words that brought him back to faith. As a writer, I love the thought that the words I write might come back to me in new and different ways one day.

Featured Announcements:
● What have you been reading, watching, or listening to? We’ll use that as our jumping off point for conversation in our Zoom meeting TONIGHT at 7:00 p.m. Hope to see you all there!

● THIS SATURDAY: Deacon’s Food Drive. Please stop by between 10-12 with your contributions for the Food Drive! One of the things that stands out to me as a request for the food pantry is tomato sauce in CANS — they prefer it to the glass because of breakage. Also, please note that the food pantry is always
looking for shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant and other hygiene items. If you need a special pickup, please contact the church office at — IDEA: Put it on Facebook to see if
your neighbors want to contribute.
