Thought for the Day, May 19, 2020

Posted by Traci Smith on

THOUGHT OF THE DAY: Slowing down and finding meaning in the every day. Last week, I watched an episode of The Chef’s Table featuring Jeong Kwan, a buddhist nun in South Korea who cooks temple cuisine. If it sounds a little different than anything you’ve ever seen before, that’s because it is! I highly recommend watching the episode (if you have Netflix). You’ll be amazed by the beauty of the photography and the beauty of Jeong Kwan’s spirit. It’s an excellent reminder to slow down and enjoy the beauty of every day.

PODCAST DISCUSSION GROUP? Are you interested in a podcast discussion group? If so, send me an Email and let me know which of the times you'd prefer for the discussion, either Fridays at 12:00 noon or Mondays at 6:00 p.m. are the two times I'm offering right now. You can also email me and let me know if you'd like me to recommend a weekly podcast, but you'd rather not join a discussion about it.

MAIL: GOOD NEWS! The church mail situation is finally getting straightened away! It’s being held at the post office and I’ll pick it up from time to time. I got a huge backlog of mail that was previously lost and so if you sent in checks that seem to have vanished, what was lost has now been found!

SERVICE HELP: We’re still looking for Scripture Readers and special “Passing of the Peace” videos. If you’re interested in doing either, please contact Pastor Traci or Susan.

TRIVIA NIGHT: Join us for a TRIVIA NIGHT on May 30th. Proceeds benefit the Deacon Fund! It’s all in good fun and to benefit a great cause.  Here is some information on the logistics of trivia night.

1. After you purchase a ticket, you will receive login information. Please login from a computer or iPad on May 30th at 7pm.

2. Please also have your cell phone charged and ready to go. Your phone will serve as your signaling device. (for those who are familiar, we'll be using Kahoot as our platform) .

3. When we login, we'll spend the first 15 or 20 minutes doing a practice round, then we'll launch into the game.

4. If you have more than one person in your household, you can choose whether or not you'd like each person to play as an individual, or whether you'd like to put your heads together and answer as a group.

5. Winner will receive bragging rights!

6. Remember that all funds raised will go to the Deacons' Ministry!

7. Please contact me if you have any questions!
