Thought for the Day, July 16, 2020

Posted by Traci Smith on

Thought of the Day: Christmas In July: The “fancy people.” Who came to see the baby Jesus at the stable? Was it a who’s who of all of the fancy people of the time? If you’ve been a churchgoer for even a little while, you know that’s a laughable idea. The people who showed up to see the Christ child were, frankly, nobodies. They were shepherds and commoners. Misfits. Such is the way of Jesus. Those who often have ears to hear him and eyes to see him are those we least expect.

Women of Faith and Valor: Call for Contributions!
Friends, our Sermon on July 26th is "Women's Rights are Human Rights." Who
is a woman in your life who has shown you want it means to be brave and to
have faith? We want to hear about her! Please use the link HERE to record a
short video telling us about this person. Your video can be as short as 30
seconds or as long as 2 minutes. Please do not let your clip go longer than 2
minutes.

Can't wait to see and hear your contributions! Remember, go HERE. If you
have any trouble, please let me know.

PS -- Is there a man of faith and valor you're thinking of? Hold that thought!
We'll do something similar for a man of faith in late August.
Don’t forget to Join us Online for Online Coffee Time at 11:30 on Sunday Mornings as well. HERE’s the link.

For Discussion: Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. Instead of discussing a whole book, we’ll take a look at the article “America’s Enduring Caste System” from the NYT. You can find it HERE. Join us. (Also, if you’ve not had a chance to take a look at the article, you’re still free to join the discussion.

See you soon,
Pastor Traci
